W.Bro Andrew Robertson (pictured 2nd from the left) of Miles Coverdale Lodge No. 5069 will take part in a non-stop cycle relay on 11 June from Lands End to John O’Groats helping to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research. The event will comprise 14 teams totalling around 80 riders and cover 981 miles.
W.Bro Robertson will be riding in a team of 6 from Fowey to Polruan Quay, Looe, Liskeard, Tavistock, Gunnislake, Princetown, Two Bridges, Moretonhampstead in the 58 mile second leg of the relay.
Andrew said “It’s a bit hilly with a total climbing distance of 4,000 feet. We are taking a baton - a drinks bottle - because that will be easy for each team to carry, but this will not be passed to the next team until the last rider crosses the line. As 3 riders are over 40 years of age, we are expecting support from our younger team members! We think we can do it in four and a half hours and there will be plenty of backup along the way with a van carrying supplies, spares etc.”
